Istanbul Geography

Istanbul is located in the area of the North-West of Marmara of Turkey. It locks up southernmost Bosphorus which places the city on two continents - the Western part of Istanbul east to Europe, whereas the Eastern part is in Asia. The borders of city cover a surface of 1.539 square kilometres, whereas the metropolitan area, or the province of Istanbul, covers 6.220 square kilometres.
